Our History

Our company is established as a woman owned LLC. We have been in the pyrotechnics business for over 30 years, and have performed hundreds of outdoor pyrotechnics displays throughout North Carolina and Virginia. We have decided to not pursue our licenses in Virginia and concentrate our business solely in North Carolina.

When the owners' husband was 8 years old, he crawled under the bleachers of a fireworks shoot being shot at Apollo PA during their "Moon Landing" celebration. He ended up directly under the bleachers next to the finale. When they launched it, he tried desperately to exit the bleachers, as he feared for his life. As he emerged, he knew that fireworks was something he had to learn. He was bitten by that fireworks bug. For the past 30+ years, Glenn and Sally have enjoyed performing fireworks displays as often as possible. Read our "past experiences" link to see who we have performed for.

A couple of years ago, a partner we had decided to exit the industry. During those 2 years, we did several shoots for another very large display company so that we could build our company back up. It has taken us a couple of years to restore the needed resources to continue performing art in the sky. It was a long road, but we are finally able to take off. Let us show you what we can do.

Unlike a vast majority of our competition, we fire every single one of our shows electronically. What does that mean? It means that we can stop the show at any time for safety reasons because each of our effects (except for finales, which are very fast firing) are individually wired so that we can be assured they will fire, AND we can safely shoot from a distance, so that we can control the show with extreme precision, again, something that other display companies can't do. The equipment for firing electronically is very expensive, but we felt that this was a wise investment many years ago. Safety, and a great display, are our goals!

Piedmont Pyro is a wholly owned and operated subsidiary of The Red Road Group, LLC, a woman owned and operated company.

As an additional note, this website is hosted out of the State of Arizona, since it is technically illegal to advertise fireworks businesses in the State of North Carolina. Please, change these silly laws!!!!
